NPF Summer Film Institute

The Nate Parker Foundation is excited to announce the third class of aspiring filmmakers for the 2018 Summer Film Institute. In 2016, the Nate Parker Foundation established their flagship Summer Film Institute at Wiley College. The first year the NPF brought 31 black students from HBCUs and PWIs to Wiley College for an intensive summer institute where students were taught by some of the top scholars of black history and film professionals. By the end of the institute the students wrote, directed, and produced a short film. The NPF created a cohort of activist-storytellers, all of whom left feeling more connected to their heritage and communities. With funding from the Ford Foundation and private stakeholders, the 2018 class will create another short film during their stay, and continue the new tradition of filmmaking at an HBCU. We welcome the class of 2018 and look forward to watching them create and inspire.
